We are so excited to wrap up the school year next month and celebrate our five graduates. The students and staff had a great month welcoming the warm weather getting ready to wrap up the school year.
To kick off May, students revisited a favorite past field trip location, LifeTown in Livingston, which is a volunteer-run simulated town for students with disabilities. Students were sent to the “bank” first thing in the morning, and were given $12 to spend on whatever they wanted. “Stores" include ShopRite, a t-shirt shop, a salon, a pet store, a bookstore, and more. LifeTown even has a small "street" with stop lights and a crossing guard, to help teach students about road safety. This unique experience allows students to experience real-world situations in a contained environment.
Our most exciting event of the year, our Spring Social, was held the following week. Students dressed in formal attire for a day of music, dancing, food, and fun to celebrate their accomplishments throughout the school year. Students and staff had a wonderful celebration at White Beeches Country Club, just around the corner from our school.
Next month, we will be getting ready for the summer and celebrate our five graduates at our commencement ceremony. Everyone at Bergen Center is looking forward to honoring these students with their friends and family at this special time.
Stay tuned for photos from our final days of the 2023-2024 school year!
